Paro-Bumdrak Via Sangchokor Monastery
Activities planned for Day 1

 

  • Trek: After a one-hour drive to Sangchokor monastery (a Buddhist College), the trek begins. The day involves a 5-hour walk with some gradual but steep climbs through a forest to the campsite.
  • Highlights: The pleasant walk with views of the Paro valley; arriving at the sacred Bumdrak monastery, a place believed to be blessed by 1,000 meditating Dakinis (celestial beings).
  • Destination: The campsite at Bumdrak, in the vicinity of the monastery.
  • Overnight: Camp at Bumdrak (3868 m).

Halt at Bumdrak
Activities planned for Day 2
  • Activity: A relaxed day of local exploration, including a hike around the Bumdrak meditation hermitage and its holy cave, with an optional climb to a nearby ridge for mountain views.
  • Highlights: Exploring the sacred hermitage and caves where the 1,000 Dakinis meditated. The optional hike to a high ridge offers some of the best Himalayan views in Bhutan. The opportunity to simply relax and soak in the serene nature of the campsite.
  • Destination: The Bumdrak campsite and its sacred surroundings.
  • Overnight: Camp at Bumdrak (3868 m) for a second night.

Bumdrak-Paro Via Tigernest
Activities planned for Day 3
  • Trek: The final day is a scenic descent from Bumdrak through a mixed conifer forest. The trail passes several smaller temples, including Ugyentsemo and the Machig Labdron cave temple, before culminating in a visit to the iconic Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest) Monastery. The trek concludes at the monastery's base.
  • Highlights: The beautiful downhill walk through rhododendron and fir forests; visiting the sacred Ugyentsemo and Machig Labdron temples; the unforgettable experience of reaching the Tiger’s Nest from a unique, less-traveled route.
  • Destination: The sacred Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest) Monastery, perched dramatically on a cliffside.
  • Overnight: A hotel in Paro.
