Highlights include Ta Dzong Museum, Rimpong Dzong with its wooden cantilevered bridge and the famous Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest) in the beautiful Paro Valley, The National Memorial Chorten, 17th century Tashichhodzong, 12th century Changangkha Temple and the National Library exhibiting ancient scriptures in Bhutan’s capital Thimphu, and after crossing the 3150m Dochula Pass with spectacular Himalayan views, a journey into the sub-tropical Punakha Valley featuring the incredible the Punakha Dzong and Chimi Lhakang, temple of the ‘Divine Madman’.

Itinerary
During the journey, one will experience breath-taking view of Mount Everest, Kanchenjunga and other famous Himalayan peaks including the sacred Jumolhari and Mount Jichu Drake in Bhutan. On arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be received by your guide and take you to Thimphu which is 54 km from Paro Airport and about 45 minutes drive. Later in the afternoon visit the Centenary farmers market,visit the majestic Tashichhodzong. Overnight hotel in Thimphu.
After breakfast, visit Buddha statue, and is presumed to be the largest Bronze statue in the world. The three storied high throne of the statue will consists of temples on each floor. Traditional paper factory, visit Post office were you can personalize your stamp, Takin preserve centre, Semtokha Dzong. Evening: Stroll through the town. Overnight hotel in Thimphu.
After breakfast this morning, enjoy the scenic drive to Punakha with a stop for tea at Dochu La (3,100 meters), where on a clear day you can get spectacular views of the Eastern Himalayas. From the pass, drive downhill through the forests of rhododendron, fir and hemlock. You will arrive Punakha after traversing through rice field and along the bank of Punakha River. On the way to Punakha, you will stop at Metsina village and take a 20 minute walk through the rice fields to Chimi Lhakhang, which is a fertility temple. After Lunch you will visit the Sangchen Dorji Lhundrup Nunnery which is stunningly situated on the top of the hill overlooking rivers like an anchored ship and fertility village. After breakfast we will hike to khamsum yuelay Namgyel chorten (1hour up and down) after that we will go for river raft If you are interested on your own payment), Lunch picnic lunch by the river side. After lunch we will visit Punakha Dzong, the “Palace of Great Happiness” built in 1637 by the Zhabdrung, the ‘Unifier of Bhutan’. It is situated at the confluence of the Mo Chu and Pho Chu (male and Female River) and is the winter headquarters of the Je Khenpo and hundreds of monks who move in masse from Thimphu to this warmer location.The three story main temple of the Punakha Dzong is a breathtaking example of traditional architecture with four intricately embossed entrance pillars crafted from cypress and decorated in gold and silver. It was here in 1907 that Bhutan’s first king was crowned. Then walk towards the longest suspension bridge if interested.Overnight at your hotel in Punakha.
Drive from Punakha to Paro: Takes about Approx.(3 to 4 Hrs).Distance covered is 128 KM. The drive is scenic as we will again cross Dochula Pass for the second time to get the view of the eastern Himalayas from the Pass.Descend to Thimphu valley take a diversion to Paro from Simtokha following Thimphu Chu till Chuzom, following Paro chu till Paro valley. on arrinal we will visit Paro National Museum and we will go around paro town for last minute shopping.Overnight at your hotel in paro.
Overnight at Paro Hotel Thim Dorji or Khangkhu resort
After breakfast hike to Taktsang Monastery. The walk of approximately 1.5 to 2 hours uphill takes you almost a kilometreabove the Paro valley floor (for those who cannot hike we will arrange a horse for transfer up to cafeteria). The view ofTaktsang Monastery built on a sheer cliff face 900 metres above the valley floor is a spectacular sight. The Monastery isalso an important pilgrim site for the Buddhists. According to legend, great Guru Rimpoche and his consort meditated in acave here for three months when he brought the teachings of the Buddhist Dharma to Bhutan in the 8th Century. After meditation, they manifested themselves in the forms of Guru Dorji Drolo and a tigress to subdue demons in the valleybelow. The cave, where the monastery was later built is said to be the origin of Buddhism in Bhutan. Nearby there is a teahouse where you can stop for refreshments before returning to Paro for lunch. if we reach early to the town we will have lunch in the town otherwise we will have lunch in the tea house at the mid way.After lunch check-in hotel rest for awhile and then around 4/5pm we will go for hot stone bath with farewell dinner in the Local Farm House. Overnight at yourhotel in Paro.
