Description
The Nub Tshonapata Trek is an exclusive 8-day journey into the untouched wilderness of Bhutan’s Haa Valley. This adventure leads you through dense rhododendron forests and high alpine meadows, following ancient trade routes once used by travelers heading toward Tibet. The highlight of the trek is the sacred Nub Tshonapata Lake, a serene turquoise gem hidden deep in the mountains. Along the way, you will conquer several spectacular passes, including Gochhila Pass (4,350 m), which offers breathtaking panoramic views of the rugged Tshejala range. The journey concludes in the Paro Valley with a grand finale hike to the legendary Tiger’s Nest Monastery. After days of physical challenge and spiritual discovery, you can unwind with a traditional hot stone bath, providing the perfect balance of adventure and rejuvenation before your departure. Note: We would be happy to offer hotel upgrades based on your preference and comfort level. If you wish to stay in higher-category properties (such as premium 4-star or luxury hotels), we can arrange the upgrade for you. However, please note that any additional cost arising from the upgraded accommodation will need to be borne by the guest and will be added to the final package price accordingly.

Itinerary
Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be greeted by our guide and driver.

Begin with a gentle climb to Tale La Pass (3,780 m) through dense rhododendron and conifer forests, then continue to a yak herders’ camp at Tshojo. Ascend to Gochula Pass (4,200 m), follow the ridge, and descend to camp at Womji.

Climb steeply through juniper and rhododendron forests to Gochhila Pass (4,350 m) for sweeping views of the Tshejala range. Continue to Tshejalum past yak herder camps, with spring wildflowers along the trail, then head toward Tshejala Pass along an ancient trade route to Tibet.

Savor a peaceful day at the edge of the sacred Nub Tshona Pata, where the turquoise waters reflect the surrounding peaks. You can spend your time spotting the legendary golden trout, visiting nomadic yak herders to glimpse their traditional way of life, or hiking the surrounding hillsides for breathtaking views of this untouched Himalayan paradise. It is a day of pure serenity and deep connection with nature.
Covering a distance of 19 km over approximately 6–7 hours, you will retrace your steps to the majestic Gochhila Pass before branching off along a scenic ridge route toward the tranquil Tsojo Lake (3,780 m). After a peaceful lakeside picnic, the day concludes with a descent to your camp, beautifully situated in a nearby yak meadow.
On the final day of the trek, you will cover 10 km in approximately 3–4 hours as you descend through fragrant juniper and rhododendron forests toward Talila Pass. After re-entering the beautiful Haa Valley, the trekking portion of your journey comes to an end, followed by a scenic drive back to Paro for a relaxing overnight stay at an altitude of 2,350 m.

Afterward, visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest and most sacred shrines, before soothing your muscles with a traditional Hot Stone Bath—the perfect Himalayan remedy after days of trekking.
