Itinerary
Arrival at Phuentsholing border of India Jaigoan from NJP or Bagdoga.
Morning: Complete your entry permits at the Phuentsholing Immigration Office.
Drive: Begin the 145 km scenic drive to Thimphu (approx. 5–6 hours). Enjoy lush mountain views and pass the Kharbandi Gompa and Chuzom welcome gate.
- Morning & Afternoon: Head to the courtyard of Tashichho Dzong to experience the Tshechu. Spend the entire day watching monks perform vibrant, centuries-old sacred mask dances and cultural displays.
- Evening: Enjoy a warm Bhutanese dinner and explore local craft bazaars.
- Morning: Visit Dzong to witness the grand finale, typically featuring the unfurling of the holy Thongdrel tapestry.
- Afternoon: Tour the Buddha Dordenma (Giant Buddha) for panoramic valley views and visit the National Memorial Chorten.
- Day: Dive deeper into Bhutanese culture. Visit the National Textile Museum, the Folk Heritage Museum, and the Motithang Takin Preserve to see Bhutan's national animal.
- Evening: Do some souvenir shopping for traditional hand-woven textiles.
- Morning: Check out and retrace your journey down the winding roads back to Phuentsholing.
- Alternative: If you wish to extend your trip, you can travel to Paro (1-hour drive) to hike the iconic Tiger’s Nest (Paro Taktsang)
